Reshadat (Rostam) Oilfield was explored in 1965 at 110 Km southwest of Lavan Island in the Persian Gulf and was developed by Iranian-Italian Oil Company (IMINICO). This field geologically is composed of three layers including Shoayba, Arab and Mishrif oil layers and the majority of the oil is located within Shoayba. However, now all three layers are used to produce crude oil with high water and low gas content. After drilling 33 wells and constructing platforms in Reshadat III, IV, and VII, production of light oil from the field was began in 1968. High quality oil produced by this field with EPI36 has many customers in international markets.

The natural production of this field was continued by 1972, and since then, well pumps have been used to extract oil. Currently, oil is produced only from Reshadat IV (R-4) platform which is located four kilometers north of R-7 platform and has 14 wells with currently producing over 9 thousand barrels per day. The oil produced at this platform, along with the oil produced at Resalat, is transferred to Lavan Island through 18-inch pipeline with a length of 108 km for being stored.

The project of Reshadat field development is executing in five phases (including drilling, jacket installation, installation of facilities on the platform, pipelines, and construction of a reservoir with the capacity of 500,000 barreles) to produce 78 thousand barrels a day in Lavan. Also, three pipelines are constructed between platforms with length of three to five kilometers; a 14-inch pipeline with length of 107 km which transfers the oil from the platform to Lavan, and a 10-inch pipeline with length of about 50 km which transfers the gas from Reshadat to Salman platform.
